The 40 Day Health Challenge
Ireland’s Classic Hits Radio is spearheading ‘The 40 Day Health Challenge’, an inspiring new initiative that’s all about getting you moving, eating well, and improving your mental wellbeing! The 40 Day Health Challenge, brought by the makers of Operation Transformation, is a free public health initiative aimed at inspiring people across Ireland to make sustainable lifestyle changes. With expert guidance and a supportive community, the challenge will help you eat well, move more, and improve your mental wellbeing over 40 days. Setting the challenge and giving you the plan are Personal Trainer Karl Henry, GP Dr Sumi Dunne, Clinical Psychologist Dr Eddie Murphy and dietician Sophie Pratt. For 40 days, people can eat well, move more and focus positively on their mental health Join us for daily updates on Ireland’s Classic Hits Radio, Online, in the The Irish Sun and on our podcast channel.

Sheena Crean absolutely loves food.... in fact, she'd probably swap an Oasis ticket for a restaurant voucher. She's had a tough few years with the death of her father, her aunt and her beloved sister. She has also moved house a number of times so stress levels have been at an all time high. Throw in a job redundancy to top it off and so she is ready for a change.

As I was leaving the filming session for Episode 2 of "The 40 Day Health Challenge", I noticed Martina Condell was quite upset. She was worried she would be the only challenger not to lose weight.....which of course didn't happen !

Martina Condell is a 53-year-old mother of two who works as an SNA in a primary school meaning she has her afternoons free but she isn't making the most of this time. She is a member of a cycling club but this often requires pit-stops for a coffee and cake.

Garry the Trucker is very well known to us at Ireland's Classic Hits Radio. You've probably heard his voicenotes on Trina Mara's show. Being on the road has led to some pretty bad eating habits - chocolate and crisps and regular pit-stops at service stations. He is ready to make the change so he can spend more time with his wife Michelle who is fit as a fiddle.

Olivia Fitzgerald lives on a dairy farm in Askeaton, Co.Limerick and has a separate full-time job as well as being a sports coach and mammy to 4 kids. She recently had a set-up with a sepsis diagnosis and got a real fright as she thought she might die.

Jim O'Sullivan is a recently retired secondary school principal from Cork. Married to Deirdre O'Sullivan (who is also one of our challengers) and admits he has become more sedentary of late and doesn't want to feel exhausted after a day on the golf course.

Jeannette Traynor is a mother-of-3 living in Clondalkin, Dublin. She is a shift worker and so her sleep patterns are all over the place. Although she loves to exercise, arthritis in her big toe has slowed her down but she still wants to run the Dublin City Marathon for her 50th birthday this year.
